:sopresa: You opened the new thread with a mistake. It's "continuedddddd" not continue. ![]() We'll see if Vir can change it. Now I'll reply to the posts for me in the previous thread: Brianavrin: you said that I don't come around so often because you were invaded but when I do come around I show off. Vir: Sucks to be you. I'm sorry. That's how things are in the US: it's all about BUYING, BUYING, and BUYING Grecko: This is a thread for English. If you want to learn English, come over. If you don't, just go away. ![]() Hector: Yes, laptops here are hilariously cheap. As I mentioned before, I got a laptop for that same price. It's not an HP, but it's still good. I learned that the components are all the same in all the brands, but they're just labeled with the names of the different brands, that's it. So, in the end, it doesn't really make a difference to buy an HP or an Acer. Anyway... on Black Friday (Friday after Thanksgiving, which is on the fourth Thursday of November), there are REALLY good sales, that's why people get up so early to go shopping. Stores open earlier to receive more customers... and customers get up earlier to spend more money. It's insane. Editado por ·Vir!·: 25 de noviembre de 2007 a las 14:35. Razón: DoblePost Unido

i know.. when im placing an order i always have to offer related items, and even if they dont need them they say "ok.. how much is it? 5 dollars? ok! great, give me 5.. just in case i need them in the future" it's like i work for an american business, it's called Office Depot, for the USA, and on Black Friday, we have great sales.. most of the technology items have a huuuge discount.. for example, instead of being $900, we sell them at $400.. and stores that friday they open at 6, employees start giving numbers so customers can take advantage of the sales.. people start getting in line at the store's door at 5 am or before.. its insane. and if they dont get the item / items they wanted because they ran out of stock, they call me angry.. and they start "this is discrimination!!!" ps: corrected the title and hazel's post that was posted twice.

hazel and vir (whoever gets here first) what makes friday after thanksgiving so important? i mean, why all those crazy sales?? if u could get a computer for that price here (400 pesos, that is), i think ppl would be queuing for 1 month rather than 1 hour! :P

thanksgiving for them is like semana santa for us. actually the official thanksgiving day is on thursday.. but they take friday free too so they can go on hollidays, take advantage of the sales, etc. it's what they call "the beginning of the christmas season" and it's the day of the year when companies sell their stuff at the best price.. in other words, the beginning of the compulsive-buyer season.. cause americans are SUCH a great business for companies!

I welcome myself to the new version of the English thread (?) Vir, a QA told me that on december the 25th the site was going to be closed at the morning, but in the afternoon it'll be working at full capacity. Is that correct? My shift is from 16 to 22 pm, MON, TUE, WED, FRI, SAT, SUN (thursdays off), which is actually great because i'll be getting $350 (pesos) extra for working on weekends. I can't complain because that's the shift I applied for. Unfortunately, some of my classmates didn't got very good shifts. One of them has to work from 7 to 14 every day except tuesdays and wednesdays (which means that he'll be working on weekends and "feriados" [feriados = holidays?]) Hazel, i'm guessing that you'll buy a new HP desktop computer for christmas. They are great (sublimial message: don't buy an HP :P)

it all depends on the project u're working for. my project does not work on the 25th nor the 1st.. and we still have our doubts about the 24th and 31st. if we work, i'll burn them all

No, I already have a laptop, it's not anything great, just an Acer, but it was 400 dollars (not on Black Friday, though, I bought it in September). Working in any call center is stressful. Today the forecast says we'll have a snow storm. I'm looking forward, I like them, but I won't like it if we have a blackout.
