Son sinonimos, se pueden usar para decir lo mismo, aunque "trouble" como verbo tambien puede significar "preocupar". Ejemplo: What's troubling you?

¿Cúal es la diferencia entre "I wish" y "If only"?
Osea, significan lo mismo:

-If only i weren't so late.
-I wish i weren't so late.

Entiendo que el primero significa "si tan sólo", y el segundo "desearía", sobre lo que tengo dudas es si los dos expresan el mismo deseo. No se si me entienden.

Ambas expresiones se refieren a una situación opuesta a tu realidad presente (condicional 2) por lo tanto ambas expresan algo que desearías fuese diferente. Espero que esto te ayude

Para mi "if only" es más factual. Es decir, estás deseando que algo que ya ocurrió no hubiera ocurrido. Con "I wish" te estás refiriendo a algo que pudo haber ocurrido o no. Esa es la diferencia que yo le noto. Pero es tan insignificante que no vale la pena marcarla. Significan lo mismo.
