Seinfield a show about nothing? What is this blasphemy?

Seinfield is life itself... it describes situations that we all go through everyday... ie: dates, job interviews, neighbours, restaurants, parents... The episode of Jerry looking for his car in a parking lot... classic!

But does life have a plot? No, it doesn't. Anything can happen in life, and that's what Seinfeld is about: not having a plot, therefore, yes, it is like life. But it's about nothing, it doesn't have more plot than life itself.

If not, watch the Notes about nothing, the audio commentary on the show (if you havethe CDs), they will say that: it is a show about nothing (which we can also see in the episodes The Pilot I and II).

even tough it's not a masterpiece of litterature, i sarted reading harry potter when i was eleven years old, so i must know how it ends

In my opinion lives do have a plot... they don't have a genre. Someone's biography can be a plot and if its interesting enough, you can make a movie out of it.

But its true, Seinfield's episodes are not chronologically set and are not chained with each other, however that does not mean the series is plotless.

My two cents.... why do people say that anyways? Can't they give out more than two cents?... cheap bastards.

What's the plot of your life, then?

Mine doesn't! I mean, I wasn't "predestinada" (I don't know the term ) for something; that would be the plot of my life. But there's no such thing. If you're able to tell me what the plot of your life is, then life itself should be wrong.

Besides... who are we arguing against? Te creators of Seinfeld themselves said "this is a comedy about nothing", and yes, it's the story of four friends and blah blah... but that's not a plot.

Nobody said this script (life) is over. You can only tell the plot when you are done... or dead.

For example, whats the movie "A beautiful mind" about?... its about John Nash's life.

And I wouldn't call this an argument but an opinion inter-exchange.

What I meant by "arguing" is that you are arguing with the creators of Seinfeld that the purpose they meant for their show is not such. I'm not saying I'm arguing against you!!

Still, you didn't tell me what the plot of your life is. Maybe that's because there's no plot to our lives!

A plot? Life is not a soup opera, like ER, or Grey's Anatomy. It's like Seinfeld. That's so great about it, that it has no drama or, like Jesucristo (the user) said, the episodes have nothing to do with each other. That's what makes it so realistic.

That's why! It's a show about nothing!
